Congress is currently drafting several emergency relief bills to address the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is imperative that LIHEAP be included in these discussions.
I am reaching out to request your support for an additional $1.4 billion for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) in the upcoming COVID-19 supplemental funding bill to address the devastation being caused by the pandemic.
As the workforce continues to be displaced in record numbers, we anticipate a historic influx of newly-eligible Americans who will be unable to pay utility bills. It is imperative that LIHEAP be increased to meet their need and avoid turning any eligible household away from utility assistance services.
For our most financially vulnerable American families, the choice between utilities and healthcare has become even more significant. As people isolate themselves in their homes, their energy costs will increase substantially and create greater burdens.
Please support an additional $1.4 billion for LIHEAP in the upcoming COVID-19 supplemental funding bill.
Sharing your story helps our elected officials understand the impact and need for LIHEAP!
